Cirrus Managing Director Mr. Peter Freed has announced that Cirrus has entered into an agreement with DMO under the PICIP programme to further develop Cirrus’ Sensor Association and Fusion Engine (SAFE) technology.
Mr Freed stated that "I am delighted that Cirrus’ SAFE technology and indeed, Cirrus’ underlying engineering capability have been recognised as a priority industry capability for the ADF."
Mr Freed further stated that “This award provides Cirrus matched assistance for progressing SAFE, and highlights the depth of high technology capabilities that are resident within Australia’s indigenous SME sector."

About the Sensor Association and Fusion Engine
Modern combat systems build a composite tactical picture by fusing information drawn from multiple sensors. The computational demands of this process grow at a prohibitive rate as the number of sensors and contacts increase, with this factor constraining the attainable system performance.
The Sensor Association and Fusion Engine (SAFE) is based on algorithms that address this central constraint, enabling larger association problems to be managed from within available computer hardware.
