2nd APB Contract for Cirrus

Cirrus Managing Director Mr Peter Freed has today announced that Cirrus has been awarded its second contract in the Advanced Processor Build (APB) process associated with the AN/BYG1 Combat Control System.

"We are very pleased to have been awarded this latest contract, which follows Cirrus’ earlier APB work on our underwater localisation technologies for submarine combat systems," Mr Freed stated. “To secure APB, Cirrus has had to compete against the best offerings from American industry and academia, so it is pleasing to demonstrate that Australian SME’s can match it with the best in the world.”

The APB process is used to identify hardware independent software functions that create or improve functionality for transition to naval combat systems programs. 

Australia and the United States of America are parties to an Armaments Cooperative Program (ACP) to jointly develop the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System. 

Cirrus secured its initial APB contract in July 2008.
